GOtv Kenya Packages, Channels, Prices, Paybill & Contacts

By  |

GOtv Kenya, a subsidiary of Multichoice, is one of the major players in the pay-tv services in Kenya. In August 2016, the ‘Home of African television’ slashed its monthly subscription fees for the Value and Lite bouquets.

While GOtv described this move as a show of commitment to deliver affordable digital family entertainment, mounting competition could have been a major influence. GOtv faces competition from other pay-tv services such as Zuku, Startimes, and Bamba.

The stiff competition occasioned by the presence of several players in the market is likely to limit price increases in 2017. Will we see more players entering the market? Maybe. The only constant is that competition will continue to mount. Subscribers can only hope that these prices will be slashed further in 2017.

That may explain why GOtv recently introduced a loyalty reward program, GOtv WOW. This rewards you with extra channels at no cost.

As expected, there is a condition:

You should stay connected to GOtv for three months continuously and paid on time in each of the three months and Safaricom airtime worth Ksh. 50 for GOtv Value or Ksh. 100 for GOtv Plus. Apart from the rewards, GOtv fees are also reasonable.

At present, a GOtv decoder and GOtenna retail at Ksh. 1,999. This starter kit comes with a free one-month GOtv Plus subscription. You can get the Gotenna separately for Ksh. 1000.

A new subscriber gets GOtv Plus and that means enjoying 43 local and international channels. After one month, the subscriber is free to choose the package that suits their viewership needs and pocket.

GOtv Kenya has three main packages: GOtv Lite, GOtv Value, and GOtv Plus. GOtv Plus is the premium bouquet; hence, higher priced of the three while GOtv Lite is the cheapest.

GOtv Packages: GOtv Plus, GOtv Value, GOtv Lite

Below is a comparison table:

PackageNumber of ChannelsPrice
GOtv Plus42Ksh. 699(monthly)
GOtv Value28Ksh. 470 (monthly)
GOtv Lite20Ksh. 220 (monthly), Ksh. 500 (Quarterly-3 months), or Ksh. 1,299 (annually)

GOtv Lite package comes with three-payment installment options: you can either pay monthly, quarterly, or annually.

GOtv subscribers have access to channel categories such as sports, entertainment, religious content, children’s programming, fashion, and food. The level of access is, of course, dependent on the bouquet. Those subscribed to the GOtv Plus have access to more channel categories than those subscribed to the other two.

Payment Methods: Paybill, Online

GOtv offers you the freedom to choose from various payments options: you can make payments via M-Pesa (Business No.: 423655), Airtel Money (Business name: GOTV), Visa Card, PesPal, CraftSilicon, or through local banks.

GOtv Kenya Eazy Self Service

This is GOtv’s online platform that offers customers the self-service option. This way, they can manage their subscriptions online. Through this platform, you can find dealers or installers near you, learn about the various payment methods, get more details on your GOtv decoder, and clear error codes.

From experience, this platform is not very effective when it comes to clearing error codes. Most subscribers end up having to call customer care agents for assistance.

Hello, Ahmed. That sounds like a technical issue that has to be sorted by the GOtv team. If you have contacted the GOtv team and they say that your problem will be sorted in 24 hours, kindly be patient and wait for them to fix the problem. Their systems can show them exactly where the problem is and so they should be able to help.

    • Terry Gachie

      April 16, 2017 at 7:50 pm

Hello Martha. The best thing would be to return it where you bought it. Always check contents before completion the purchase because some vendors may be cons.regardless, your vendor should be able to solve your issue. The recomended price for tye docoder and gotenna is Ksh. 1,999.

You can as well get a GOtenna separately for KSH 1000.

There is a new channel 57 Viiasat Life on the channel list, but I can’t view it… why is it on the list?

    • Terry Gachie

      April 17, 2017 at 8:58 pm

Hello Mugo. The most probable explanation would be because of the package you are subscribed to. However, please read the message displayed on the screen when you select that channel. If the message reads, in part, “…you should upgrade your GOtv bouquet to view this channel…” that means that you cannot view the channel unless you are on another bouquet.
