Huawei GR5 2017 is the newbie on the smartphone block in Kenya.

The mid-tier handset comes barely a year after the launch of Huawei GR5.

The advanced dual camera handset comes at a time when various smartphone companies are preparing to launch their 2017 flagships.

The mid-tier handset comes barely a year after the launch of Huawei GR5.

GR5 2017 joins the cast of several other awesome Huawei Mobile handsets that have entered the Kenyan market and they include GR3, GR5, and Y6 Pro.

The recently unveiled handset does sound good on paper and I would go as far as to say that it may be a desirable prospect.

The handset comes with okay features such as a 5.5-inch screen, 3270mAh battery capacity, and 12MP primary camera.

    Huawei GR5 2017 Specifications:

 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen

     1080 x 1920 pixels resolution

     Android OS, v6.0 (Marshmallow)

     Octa-core processor 2.1GHz, Kirin 655 CPU

 3GB RAM, 32/64 GB internal memory expandable by up to 128GB

     12MP + 2-MP dual rear camera, 8MP front camera

     Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi

     3270mAh

     4G-enabled

     Fingerprint sensor

The screen size is okay and will definitely meet the needs of movie and video fans and so will the pixel resolution.

The octa-core processor and 3GB RAM are much welcome.

It’s 2017 so Marshmallow is not welcome but we will still take it since we can always upgrade.

We are a bit accustomed to handsets with a fingerprint sensor and luckily Huawei did get the memo.

Huawei GR5 camera looks good on paper. 12MP shooter works hand in hand with the 2MP camera.

This should produce detailed and sharp photos.

Again, this is 2017; hence, consumers expect smartphone companies to bring it in various fronts and cameras strength is one of them.

It would have been kind of Huawei to increase the megapixels but I guess it’s imprudent of me to judge the shooter before I even try it.

Huawei is in the league of second-tier smartphones that are fighting to reign supreme in a market deluged with smartphones brands.

Huawei Kenya Country Manager Mark Hemaobin was quoted saying that despite the stiff competition in the market, the company has continued to increase its market share in Kenya.

Hemaobin also reiterated the company’s commitment to strengthen its working relationship with its key partners so that the company’s products can meet customer needs.

The advanced dual camera handset is priced at Ksh. 34,999.

By Kenyan standards, this is no little money. Then again, maybe it’s just me especially since I ball on a budget.

The handset comes at a time when the demand for powerful budget smartphones is high.

Smartphones are not the only products by Huawei; the company has positioned itself well in various market segments.

The company has a market presence in the wearables, smart homes, and cloud products.

We may be having a detailed Huawei GR5 review once we lay out hands on a unit.
