    Well, beggars ain’t choosers.

Nairobi County Government yesterday received 4 visibly old fire engines donated by Japan.

Governor Evans Kidero received the second-hand trucks from Japanese ambassador Toshitsugu Uesawa at City Hall.

“Japanese support for the Nairobi Fire Service is not just limited to the provision of equipment, but also the provision of technical training in Nairobi by sending experts from the Japanese Firefighters Association,” Mr Uesawa said during the hand over.

Firefighters received 8 days of training on how to use the engines.

Speaking during the ceremony, Kidero said:

“Nairobi has witnessed recurrent incidences of fire in the recent past that has led to loss of lives and property. This donation by the Japanese Government will greatly advance our firefighting efforts in the city in addition to the six fire engines which are all working but the demand is higher. The new addition will help bridge the gap.”
