ODM held a 2-day celebration in Kisumu County over the weekend. The host governor Jack Ranguma ensured it was his show, by flexing his financial might.
Following in Jubilee’s footsteps, Ranguma had 23 Prados branded with his picture and that of his party leader Raila Odinga.
Leading his ‘motorcade’ were two similarly branded trucks. He also plastered his posters and banners all over town.
Ranguma had been actively mobilizing residents to turn up for the roadshow and rally.
In February, he promised Sh1 million to the ward that registered the most voters during IEBC’s voter registration exercise, and on Saturday he handed over the cheque in the presence of Joho and other party officials.

Ranguma and Joho are increasingly forming a pair that is unsettling opponents. As Joho’s profile rises, Ranguma is keen to rise with it, and that leaves aspirants for Kisumu governor seat in a disadvantaged position.
Among those interested in Ranguma’s seat are Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o, deputy governor Ruth Odinga, businessman Hezron McObewa, Architect Christopher Ondiek among others.

McObewa and Ondiek also erected banners and billboards with their portrait and that of Raila along Kisumu – Nairobi road and Kisumu – Busia road ahead of the weekend events.
