WhatsApp Shopping, Payments, and Customer Service

WhatsApp Shopping, Payments, and Customer Service

Over the last few years, WhatsApp has seen a real shift towards messaging apps for personal communication and increasingly people are relying on WhatsApp to get business done as well.

Many of the old ways in which people and businesses communicate are not working. While businesses spend billions of dollars annually managing phone calls, e-mails, and SMS, people do not want to wait on hold, get passed from person to person, or wonder if their messages were received.

The global pandemic has made clear that businesses need fast and efficient ways to service their customers and make sales. WhatsApp has become a simple and convenient resource in this time. More than 175 million people every day message a WhatsApp Business account. Our research shows people prefer to message a business to get help and they’re more likely to make a purchase when they can do so.

Though there is much more we need to build. For the last two years, we’ve provided the WhatsApp Business app and WhatsApp Business API to help businesses of all sizes manage their chats. We’ve listened to feedback on what’s worked and believe WhatsApp can help make messaging the best way for consumers and businesses to connect. To that end we are increasing our investment in the following areas:

  • Shopping – We will expand ways for people to check out available products and make purchases right from a chat. We also want to make it easier for businesses to integrate these features into their existing commerce and customer solutions. This will help many small businesses who have been most impacted in this time.
  • Facebook Hosting Services – Businesses have varying technology needs and want choice in the companies they work with to host and manage customer communications, particularly with remote work increasing. Which is why over the coming months, we plan to expand our partnerships with business solution providers we’ve worked with over the last two years. We will also provide a new option for businesses to manage their WhatsApp messages via hosting services that Facebook plans to offer. Providing this option will make it easier for small and medium size businesses to get started, sell products, keep their inventory up to date, and quickly respond to messages they receive – wherever their employees are.
  • Business Sales – We will charge business customers for some of the services we offer, which will help WhatsApp continue building a business of our own while we provide and expand free end-to-end encrypted text, video and voice calling for more than two billion people.

We know that most people will continue to use WhatsApp simply to communicate with friends and family, which is why we will keep developing great new features and protect people’s private conversations.

We believe these additional experiences on WhatsApp meet a real need for many people and businesses whether they are around the corner or across the world. We’re excited about what lies ahead and we’ll gradually roll out these services in the months to come.

5 reasons why you should visit Krakow

While thinking about going for a short vacay you may be more likely to think about different spots than Poland, but you should consider it. For years Poland was not a popular destination for a city breaks, short and long trips. Now this trend is slightly changing, and it is good because this eastern country is definitely worth visiting.

Below you have five reasons why you should start your adventure with Poland from Krakow – former capital and one of the most beautiful cities which attracts tourist from all over the world. These five reasons are just a beginning and surely you will find dozens of reasons more while travelling to Krakow. If you decide to start your trip now this article will be helpful and if you want to read about more thing to do in Krakow and see if there are some events during your stay I recommend doing some more research by clicking here – krakow.wiki.

Krakow Airport

Before getting to the reasons why you should visit Krakow you should know that getting to Krakow is super easy. Planes from whole England fly here almost every day all year round. So, whenever you are planning your trip you will get here you will get here without any obstacles. Flights are very cheap so even limited budget is not an obstacle, but we will talk about money bit later.

So, if you already pick your flight you should think how you will get from the airport to the city center because obviously Krakow’s airport is in the suburbs. Here you have few options: you can go by:

Alternative airport

You can also buy tickets to Katowice (Pyrzowice) which are around 100 km away from Kraków. From this airport you can also get to Kraków by train but train station is located far away from the airport so I would recommend choosing private transport from Katowice airport to Krakow city center.

  1. Great starting point

Krakow has many charming streets, beautiful architecture, many museums and dozens of places that you will want to see. If you have more time, or you have seen in Krakow everything (impossible I think) you can treat Krakow as starting point for other places in Lesser region.

Lesser region in Poland known as Małopolska is a voivodeship in southern Poland with Krakow as its capital. The province is bounded on the north by Świętokrzyskie Mountains, on the west by Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska and on the south by Tatra, Pieniny and Beskidy Mountains. More or less in 2 and half hour you will get everywhere in Lesser region and you have a lot to see here.

If you are a mountain-lover, you just have to choose one of the mountain regions. Tatra mountain are the highest in Poland and has many routes of various lengths and difficulties. One of the most famous trail is route to Morskie Oko, which is the largest lake in Tatra Mountains. Trail to Morskie Oko is really easy and it takes around 2:30h to get there. The highest peak in Poland is Rysy. You can get there going to Morskie Oko, then Czarny Staw, Bula pod Rysami and finally Rysy. You have to remember that this trail is long and difficult – getting there takes around 12 hours.

  1. It’s cheap

Krakow offers amazing value for money and let’s say it – it’s cheap. Unlike most European Union countries, Poland has its own currency – Polish zloty. All prices in pubs and restaurants are given in zloty so it is best idea to have their currency especially when you want to avoid unfavorable currency conversion.

Of course, this how much you spend depends only on you but here you have some prices:

  • Meal in a restaurant: 5-9 GBP
  • Beer in a bar: 2 GBP
  • Coffee: 2 GBP
  • Water in a restaurant: 0,8 GBP
  • Cigarettes: 3,50 GBP
  • Glass of wine: 2,50 GBP

So, if you go to the restaurant for a meal for 2 with a beer and glass of wine you will spend around 25 GBP. Going for a coffee and a piece of cake will cost you 8 GBP. Taxi driver will get you to your hotel or apartment for maximum 4,50 GBP (depends on how far away from city center you are staying) and when you want to travel by public transport one-way ticket is 0,80 GBP.

Besides Krakow has a large hotel base so you can choose whatever suits you best.

  1. Night life

City that never sleeps – that’s how you can describe Krakow. You will find here all kinds of nightlife entertainment – clubs, bars, pubs, lots of people and great atmosphere. During the day the Old Town attracts dozens of tourists admiring one of the most beautiful markets in Europe, and after dark people head here for a party. If you want to see how night life in Krakow looks like head to the Old Town – specially to Floriańska or Szewska street.

  1. Great food

Lots of restaurants from all over the world make everyone find something for themselves. Of course, I would recommend trying traditional Polish food such as pierogi or schabowy but you also absolutely have to try is Zapiekanka – toasted sandwich with cheese, toppings and some sauce on top – casual Polish street food. You will see different spots with zapiekanki but go to Kazimierz district to eat famous zapiekanki on Plac Nowy. Also try something in one of Milk bars in Krakow which were very popular during communism. You can get there traditional Polish dishes in low prices.

For a dessert you can choose one of the ice cream shops called Good Lood. Their ice creams are made with natural ingredients, and scoops are huge. On the Main Square you can go to Sweet Wentzl which is very famous bakery in Krakow.

  1. Architecture

Architecture in Krakow is absolutely stunning, and I would say that each district is different, but the whole city is still very consistent. Main Square is absolutely beautiful and St Mary’s Church makes an amazing impression both inside and outside. In the former Jewish district – Kazimierz you can definitely feel the atmosphere of the old days and feel like you are in completely different city. The most famous castle in Poland – Wawel Royal Castle makes a big impression and gives you the opportunity to see the real royal chambers.

If you still wonder if it’s worth it – it is! Krakow is here waiting for you to explore it. Beautiful architecture, nightlife, great food and lots of attractions will make you spend unforgettable time here.  If you want to learn something more before your trip I would recommend look for some valuable information here https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Kraków.

The new partnership, which also allows fleet customers Co-op Bank Fleet Africa Leasing Ltd., leasing arm of Co-operative Bank Group, to acquire more units. This is an amplification of the existing deal that only covers the commercial segment with the financing of the Hiace van and Hilux pickups.

In an effort to spur business take off and growth from the adverse negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the economy, Co-operative Bank will also extend a Kshs. 500,000 working capital loan without additional security to the successful applicants of the Toyota Vehicles in addition to providing a 2-month (60 days) grace period. Toyota Kenya Managing Director, Arvinder Reel, in lauding the improved deal said the pandemic demonstrated the need to support individuals and sectors that are at the heart of the country’s economy with flexible options to acquire key assets for their operations.

“Our partnership with Co-operative Bank goes beyond just the sale of the vehicles. Currently, Toyota Kenya locally assembles 11 varied models which includes Hilux & Landcruiser pick-ups, Hino trucks and Yamaha motorcycles.”

On her part, Co-operative Bank’s Director of Corporate and Institutional Banking, Mrs. Jacquelyne Waithaka said that the scheme is available for those customers who want direct acquisition of the vehicle of choice or for leasing. The bank has made the terms flexible to accommodate MSME’s, Co-operatives, Corporate, Individuals and Farmers, even as the economy opens. The terms are attractive especially on the 2 months grace period.

Even after the lifting of the interest rate capping, the two firms have agreed to keep the borrowing rate at 13% per reducing balance. This also allows individual customers to purchase any Toyota Kenya models ranging from Toyota, Hino, Suzuki or Yamaha at a competitive rate.

Redeemable mobile points are loyalty programs by various telecommunications companies to allow customers to accumulate points based on the usage of services on their networks.

Ray Youssef, Chief Executive Officer, and co-founder of Paxful said: “We have witnessed a drastic increase in bitcoin trading volumes and transactions across our platform. The surge mainly induced by the corona pandemic as people are working at home and looking to cashless transactions. Africa’s Mobile Gaming Will Hold a Major Market Share

Africa’s Mobile Gaming Will Hold a Major Market Share

According to industry experts, the gaming market is expected to record a 12% CAGR between 2020 and 2025. This growth is all thanks to the rise in popularity and availability of multi-functional gaming consoles in emerging markets and influencing the market growth in these regions.

Currently, Africa’s youth population is on the rise. The continent’s young population (people aged between 0-24 years) is expected to rise by almost 50% by 2050. The youth is critical to the continent’s mobile gaming industry and video game market as a whole.

African studios are growing together with sites like Betway, making new channels by launching original local content. As a result, mobile gaming will claim the biggest market share over the next five years, bringing in almost 50% of the total annual revenue recorded in the continent’s gaming industry.

With over 200 million Africans being below 35 years, the continent makes an excellent market for smartphone manufacturers and mobile game creators. Mobile gaming is gaining tremendous popularity in remote regions of Africa, thanks to several major drivers. For instance, there are over 290 million mobile phones in North Africa, with the mobile market generating $90 billion every year.

The potential to create a mega real-money gaming industry is one of the major drivers in Africa’s gaming market. Mobile technology is quickly spreading around the continent, as a large swath paves the way for gaming and legal betting. For this reason, Africans are continually enjoying betting through Betway Kenya app download and other mobile bookie sites in the continent.

The acceleration of mobile networks in Sub-Saharan Africa is a crucial driver in reducing the coverage gap. This infrastructure deployment in the region increased 3G in 2018, with over 80 million people having access to mobile games.

Over 3 billion people live in areas with mobile broadband networks, though they don’t use the internet. This usage gap is almost four times the coverage gap, and such factors might negatively impact gaming companies in the region.

A Competitive Landscape

The gaming industry is fragmented as the increase in mobile penetration and the rise in demand for online games will help attract new players in the market over the next half a decade. Earlier in May this year, Sony announced its new branding for its PS5 games to help their customers know that a title is from their in-house development team.

In August last year, Konami Digital Entertainment announced the release of their mobile game (e-Football PES 2020) would be unveiled in October as a complete overhaul of the PES 2019 game. The last update of the PES Mobile series attracted over 200 million downloads this year, with many critical licenses and features for PES 2020 on console and PC confirmed.

While issues like laws and regulations, fraud concerns, and piracy might impact the gaming industry’s growth, mobile gaming has already started its domination journey. Some of the top countries in the mobile gaming market include Kenya, South Africa, and Nigeria.

Paxful Breaks Ground On Fourth School in 100 School Initiative To Bring Quality Education Centers To Emerging Countries

Paxful, a global peer-to-peer bitcoin marketplace, announced today that they have broken ground on the fourth school in its 100-school initiative to bring quality education centers to emerging countries.

The fourth school, which will be located in the Ankara Nandu community of Sanga Local in Nigeria will serve an estimated 100-120 children between the ages of 3-6 years old. It will come fully equipped with a state-of-the-art solar-powered and water well system. In response to safety requirements associated with COVID-19, Paxful will also provide Personal Protective Equipment for all teachers and students including facemasks and hand sanitizers.

“We chose this particular community because of the lack of necessary resources and limited school infrastructure,” says Ray Youssef, CEO, and co-founder of Paxful. “They are in dire need of quality learning spaces and this school is an honest representation of the impact bitcoin can have on societies as a whole, and more specifically, how it can enhance education.

The city is home to 4,000 people and presently has only one school which serves as both primary and secondary schools. The school will also double as an adult learning space in the evenings assisting in providing hundreds of people with a supplemental education.

Paxful’s #BuiltwithBitcoin initiative began in 2017 with partner Zam Zam Water, a humanitarian organization devoted to eradicating poverty by providing clean, sustainable water and access to quality education to villages across the globe. The initiative, whose primary goal is to promote philanthropy and charity within the cryptocurrency industry, now supports over 400 students. Through the 100-school plan, Paxful expects to bring education to nearly 15,000 young people throughout Africa while providing jobs to nearly 300 teachers.

Built With Bitcoin in East Africa

The first two schools were built in Rwanda and the third school was built in Mukalala Village in Machakos County in Kenya earlier this year.

All schools come with water filtration systems, not just to supply the locals, but also to give them an opportunity to sell the water to their local community at a very affordable price. They are also equipped with solar panels to cut spends on electricity and bypass regular electricity cuts, making them more sustainable. Paxful covers all fees associated with running a school including teacher and support staff salaries, bills for electricity and water as well as school supplies and uniforms for the students.

When COVID 19 started spreading in Africa in March, Paxful launched an Africa Fund for COVID-19 that aims to provide essential supplies such as food, hand sanitizers and other protective equipment. In Kenya, Paxful donated funds to Shining Hope for Communities (Shofco) to deliver essential services and protections that will help save lives among Kenya’s most vulnerable urban slum communities.

Donations are accepted on a rolling bases on builtwithbitcoin.org and will be used to aid in the completion of the school among additional #BuiltwithBitcoin initiatives including Paxful’s Africa Fund for COVID-19. Paxful will kick off donations for building the school in Nigeria with an initial injection of $35,000 of funds in BTC.

Paxful Expands Beyond Bitcoin, Adds Tether to its Platform

Users can now convert BTC to USDT to protect their funds from volatility with trading function in the development

September 9, 2020, Nairobi, Kenya — Global peer-to-peer bitcoin marketplace, Paxful, announced today the addition of Tether (USDT) to its platform. The inclusion of USDT, the world’s largest stable coin by market value, will assist users in combating a volatile market, protecting their assets, and expanding their portfolio.

The industry has seen a surging demand for a stable digital currency amidst fears of an economic recession in both traditional and digital markets. In the last 12 months, Tether has established itself as a champion amongst stable coins, with a market capitalization of over $13 billion.

“We consider this a big step for us since this is the first cryptocurrency other than bitcoin we have on the platform,” said Ray Youssef, CEO, and co-founder of Paxful. “We always listen to our users. We understand that they go to Paxful for wealth generation and turn to crypto for stability when their national currency is affected by inflation. We hope that this can aid them to be more in control of their finances.”

The addition comes with a hedging option, allowing users to instantly convert BTC to USDT and vice versa, helping the users protect their funds during bitcoin price fluctuations.

The company also plans to enable USDT trading on the platform. Same as with the bitcoin (BTC) trading in the Paxful marketplace, users can buy and sell USDT with over 300 payment methods. The USDT balance is accessible via the wallet page, where the current market price for both coins is displayed. The launch of this feature marks Paxful’s first step towards potentially adding new cryptocurrencies in the future.

The company recently announced that the platform Paxful has hit 4.5 million registered wallets, reached 4.6 billion USD in trading volume, and reduced dispute levels to under 1%. Since inception, they have added 1 million users per year and so far in 2020 and are on track to sign up an additional 2 million users by the end of the year.
