Many of you have definitely seen this a meme of a child scribbling something on a book looking all serious.

Meet 4-year-old Jake Amo from the village of Asempanaye in Koforidua, Ghana.

The photo was taken by Emmy Award winning photographer, Carlos Cortes during a workshop organized by Chicago-based Ghanaian philanthropist Solomon Adufah.

The viral photo which has been a subject of the various meme is just one of his works.

The chubby-cheeked child was of Adufah’s pupils during one of his philanthropic mission trips in Ghana.So far Solomon has created a Go Fund Me account for the education.

Despite Amo’s photo becoming a huge internet success, Adufah expressed his disappointment of how the photo is being portrayed all over the internet.

In an Instagram post, he said that people should help the child get an education instead.

In the post he said:

“In the past several weeks I’ve been receiving emails, texts and tags to speak upon this image which has turned into an Internet meme for people to make jokes off. I wish the positive aspect of this image will go viral instead of how it’s being portrayed,”.

He added that Adufah characterized Amo as a gentle and quiet child who is always eager to learn.

Former Capital FM presenter found dead in her apartment

Former Capital FM presenter Grace Makosewe is dead. Makosewe was found dead in her apartment on Wednesday Morning, the cause of death is still unknown.

The Former presenter for the Jam 98.4 was a bubbly personality was cherished by especially during her time at Capital where she teamed up with Cess Mutungi and VineO.

Capital FM confirmed her death via social media this morning where they wrote:

“It’s a very sad morning for us at @CapitalFm as we mourn the demise of our former @theJam984 presenter Grace Makosewe. #RIPMakosewe”.

Capital FM presenter Grace Makosewe also served as a breakfast show host for the new Radio station, Urban Radio.

A Self-styled Cocoa Brown, Grace Makosewe was a master at several trades and fields across the showbiz industry.She was loved by many especially the youth.

After the news of her demise broke, Kenyans took to Twitter(KOT) using the hashtag #RIPMakosewe to send their condolences to friends and families while others who knew her on a personal level shared the moments they had together.

Uhuru Spares 2,747 Death Row Convicts from The Hangman’S Noose

President Uhuru Kenyatta has signed commutation documents commuting all death sentences into life jail terms.

Following the signing of the documents on Monday at State House, Nairobi, some 2,747 death row convicts will now serve life imprisonment.

This includes 2,655 male convicts and 92 female convicts who will be removed from the death row to serve life sentences.

The last commutation of death sentences to life imprisonment was done in 2009 by the then President Mwai Kibaki.

According to the Kenyan Constitution, the power of mercy provided for under Article 133.

President Kenyatta on Monday also signed a pardon warrant and released 102 long-term serving convicts.

The Power of Mercy is a prerogative power conferred on the President by the Constitution and entails granting pardon to reformed and rehabilitated convicted criminal offenders deserving early release from prison.

After the promulgation of the constitution, President Uhuru Kenyatta has now more power and is free to do according to the constitution.

Present were Attorney General Githu Muigai, Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery, Power of Mercy Advisory Committee Secretary Michael Kagika Prisons Commissioner General Isaiah Osugo, and Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua.

Driver of matatu in which a woman was robbed and others drugged arrested

Quick police action and sharing of information across social media have helped arrest the driver of a matatu in which a group of women was drugged and robbed though one managed to escape.

The matatu crew which was robbing clients by dragging them were arrested after a story by a lady who was robbed in the below matatu and took to social media to cry out.

A matatu driver believed to have been part of a gang that physically assaulted and robbed a woman has been arrested.

The driver was arrested on Sunday after the police had circulated registration details of the vehicle and the Administration Police in Kawangware arrested the driver.

The matatu belonged which belongs to Dakika MO Sacco was registered KAS 253V.

KCB Group Denies Alleged Data Breach

Kenya Commercial Bank KCB has dismissed claims of an alleged data breach in one of its systems terming them false and unfounded.

In a statement released on Friday, the Bank said that all its systems, including its mobile app which had been singled out in the claims, have been extensively tested by security experts and ruled out any breach.

During a press briefing the C.e.o said:

“An investigation points to malicious misinformation that has caused concern among some of our customers. The alleged customer data breach has been found to be false and was spread by bloggers to taint a bad name for the Bank,” read the statement in part.

He added that its false KCB may have suffered a massive data breach as a file with the details of more than 500,000 customers -detailing their names and phone numbers is a breach of privacy as appeared online.

He said he cannot compromise the security of such a number of people.

The Bank said is working with the relevant authorities to take the necessary legal action against the parties and blogger who originated this misinformation.

In part of a letter circulated on its social media, it read in part:

“Our commitment as a trusted partner is to continually offer secure and best in class banking experience using new technology. We wish to assure all our customers that our platforms and data are highly secured. There is no breach to our systems”.
