Jaguar and Rabbit wanted by the family of the Who lost his life in a grisly accident on Thika highway

The family of the man whose head was chopped off by road barriers in a grisly accident has come up with a surprising request.

Dominic Macharia was traveling home from work at BIDCO when he was hit by a Nissan swayed off the road and hit him throwing him off the road.

He died on the spot in the accident that shocked the town and left his family devastated. A couple of days later the family has come out to reveal their wish to meet Kenyan musicians, Jaguar and Rabbit.

The cheerful jovial man had been newly employed at Bidco and after his shift, he was walking home when the Nissan matatu hit him killing him on the spot.

The family says Dominic Macharia had drawn a number for portraits of the two musicians whose music inspired him.

The family now wants to meet the two musicians and give them the portraits which their son had left behind as he really adored the music.

His mother who was in tears said that his son had a talent in art and had drawn portraits f the two musicians who he adored so much.

Speaking to the media she said:

“My son was so much inspired by the two through their music and he kept drawing their images and storing them. I think it would be good if the two would get to see them.”

Here are the portraits:

The family revealed how Dominic Macaharia had developed a talent for drawing and proceeded to get trained at Zetech College in graphic design from where he landed his job at BIDCO.

He had a passion for doing portraits which saw him paint several top personalities including the pop and the two musicians.

The mother would love Jaguar and Rabbit to have their portraits for free and if they want to they can buy them.

Chris Brown Smashes Fan’s iPhone on Arrival in Mombasa

It was a bad start for American superstar Chris Brown’s visit to Kenya.

The singer landed at Moi International Airport on Saturday morning for the Mombasa Rocks concert which he is headlining.

For one fan however, it will be a day to forget as her new iPhone 6 got smashed as she tried to take a selfie.

The lady told Nation that she was deeply disappointed in the singer’s behavior, wondering why he grabbed her phone and threw it away.

She said:

“I was with my friends and was trying to take a selfie when he grabbed the phone from the back. I was shocked.”

“I have a ticket for the show but I won’t attend it. Brown should know that we like his songs but he has to respect his fans,” she said.

“I bought my iPhone 6 last month at Sh90,000 and seeing it being tossed off like a mulika mwizi was bad.

“Although it is only the screen protector and back cover that broke, I cannot imagine how I would have felt had it been damaged,” added the fan who did not want her name mentioned.

Chris Brown landed in Mombasa at around 11:30 am in a private jet. He was escorted to the English Point Marina under heavy security.

Nigerian star Wizkid who will also be performing on Saturday night is also booked at the same hotel.

Dear Celeb, The Fans Own Majority Shares In Your Life

I am amused by the response Akothee gave her fans when they harshly criticized her ‘catsuit’(ahem, not swimming costume lovelies).

Akothee blamed her fans’ negative comments on their lack of ‘knowledge and exposure’, saying,

I don’t blame you because the closest you have been to a pool is on the Internet!’ Of course, her fans were outraged, and flooded her timeline with comments like, ‘You don’t respect us and our opinion doesn’t count! You asked us for our opinion about your dress and when we spoke out you went on to insult us.’

So this is it dear celebrities, our opinion runs your life.

No, don’t roll your eyes and lie to yourself that you are in total control.

We are the majority shareholders.

We would like to let you know, as team #Mafans, that when you do good, and ‘good’ here is what we approve of, we will praise you.

We will type beautiful messages on your wall, make your photo our profile pictures to show support.

Heck, we will even create parody Facebook and Twitter accounts just so we can feel closest to your persona.

We will make you a star, and advertisers targeting us will look for you because of the immeasurable love we shower upon you.

We will make you king and queen and build a throne for you and make ourselves guards of your castle. You will be happy when we do this.

Your head will swell with pride and arrogance. You will even start making unfounded claims about having ‘haters’, and thank God for your fans(us) because we are your warriors against your enemies.

Here’s the catch;

We lifted you up, down we shall bring you when we want to.

Let me explain to you the easiest way to get your fans turning against you; Communicate to/with them in a way that shows you expect nothing but tongues licking your boots.

Tell us we don’t have rights to express what we really think of you unless it’s an opinion that work in your favor, something that will feed your ego.

As I said, we are the majority shareholder. You are flying in private jets and splashing photos on social media that depict a good life because we listen to your music, we talk about you, we flood your timeline with a million likes and comments.

We have made you who you are.

Nah, don’t even start the ‘it’s my hard work’ line. Do you know the average total number of people who work hard in this country that we don’t even care about?

But we chose you.

This means, dear celebrity, that if we don’t like what you are wearing, you need to apologize to us and blame it on your designer’s poor taste, then get another outfit.

Of course, you have to ask us first, before taking 100 photos with your other outfit.

We also have a say on the type of car you drive, how you will behave, in public or private (otherwise make sure no one with a smartphone is near you), who you date, what you eat, where you poop.

We decide if today you will breathe in peace or not.

If you wouldn’t want a multitude of strangers to have this much power over you, then;

  1. Don’t keep asking #Mafans of their opinion every time you post something
  2. Don’t post anything
  3. Don’t be a celebrity
  4. Be a celebrity but stay down low…

Otherwise, you will successfully fail in trying to tame us.

Analysis: Ethiopia Unveils 750 Kilometre Electric SGR.. But is it Better Than Kenya’s?

This is a question that has refused to go away. Why has Ethiopia managed to build an electrified Standard Gauge Railway for less money than Kenya, whose SGR is not even electric?

The 750 km Ethiopia-Djibouti line was unveiled on Wednesday. It will link Addis Ababa to the Red Sea port city of Djibouti.

“This train will speed up the development of our country’s manufacturing industry and it will provide huge benefits to the industrial parks and modern farms that will be built in the future. It will give employment opportunities for our citizens,” Prime Minister Desalegn said at the launch ceremony.

ra2

Travelling at 120km/h, the new service will cut the journey time down from three days by road to about 12 hours.

“We’re so excited! It takes two or three days for a truck to come from Djibouti,” said Ethiopian importer Tingrit Worku. “The train could make a huge difference.”

The $3.4 billion project was built by two Chinese companies and is the first to be electrified in Africa.

Compare that to phase 1 of Kenya’s Standard Gauge Railway. Its cost stands at Sh327 billion, almost the same as the Ethiopian line, but more than 100 km shorter.

That begs the questions: Has Ethiopia built an inferior line or is Kenya not getting value for money or is our money being stolen?

First and foremost, it’s good to note that electric does not always mean superfast. The Ethiopian line is only 40km/h faster than the Kenyan line.

Furthermore, Ethiopia’s electricity generation is about to explode with the construction of the 6,000mw Grand Renaissance Dam, which will give the train service stable power supply. (Kenya Power comes to mind)

One of the main reason why the Kenyan line is expensive is the massive bridges some stretching kilometers.

Unlike the iron fist government in Ethiopia, Kenya has to listen to all voices which led to allowances for wild animals in Tsavo and Nairobi National Park.

These bridges have contributed a big deal to the final cost.

Also in Ethiopia, the government likes your land, the government takes your land. Here in Kenya, we see any government project as an opportunity to hike the land price to make a killing.

There is also the issue of Railway stations.

Despite being 100 km shorter, Kenya is building 33 stations while Ethiopia is only building 18.

Information from Ethiopia is hard to come by, but we can assume that their main stations are not as big as what is been constructed in Nairobi or Mombasa.

There is also the locomotives. Kenya is buying more than double what Ethiopia has. Ethiopia will have 3 passenger trains and 32 freight trains to put it in plain language.

Kenya on the other hand is buying 56 diesel locomotives to power 40 passenger coaches and 1620 freight wagons.

The average Chinese locomotive pulls between 8 and 20 passenger coaches, so we can calculate that Kenya’s SGR will have either 3 or 4 passenger trains (Almost same as Ethiopia).

But our freight trains will be about 50, or at least 18 more than Ethiopia.

Finally, there’s another little-mentioned fact that makes Kenya’s SGR superior – double stack wagons. Unlike the Ethiopian trains, Kenyan freight train will be able to carry twice as many containers by stacking one on top of the other.

For purposes of comparison, the Kenyan SGR is a bit more complex and grand. Here’s a detailed analysis. (Some figures are outdated)

On face value, it would be easy to say that Ethiopia is getting better value for money, but upon analyzing the technical aspects of each, plus issues like land acquisition, bridges, and stations, you can see where the money is going on the Kenyan side.

POLL: Peter Kenneth Vs Miguna Miguna.. Who Will You Vote for Nairobi Governor?

pk-migunaThough he has not announced it officially, there is increasing chatter that former Presidential candidate Peter Kenneth will vie for the Nairobi Governor seat.

According to reports, members of the Asian Business Community, most of them very affluent, met secretly at Parklands Sports club a few day ago.

The agenda was Peter Kenneth’s candidature, and they agreed to throw their weight behind him.

“We are tired of the mess Nairobi is in, we want change and a good business environment. Peter Kenneth’s development track record is unquestionable and he is the kind of a leader that Kenya’s capital needs.” one of those in attendance was quoted as saying.

Yesterday, the hashtag #IWantPK4Nairobi was trending on Twitter. It is unclear whether it was a ‘sponsored’ hashtag or who started it, but PK did his best to stay off it.

However when asked by a follower if he would be going for the Nairobi seat, PK had this to say.

If he does join the crowded race, he will probably cite his track record. His candidature will be to the disadvantage of Miguna Miguna, as the two will be seeking votes from independent and forward minded Nairobians, not those blinded by tribal or party allegiances.

At this point, we’ve all come to agree that my grandmother can do a better job than Kidero, so I’ll not include him in this poll.

Shock as Cruel Teachers Brutally Beat High School Student

A shocking video of teachers brutally beating a student at Mbeya Secondary School has surfaced online.

In the video, 4 teachers are seen assaulting the student with sticks, kicks, and slaps as he lies on the floor screaming for his life.

They take turns to beat him, and one is seeing stepping on his hands so the student doesn’t obstruct the slaps.

Two ladies, including the one believed to be recording, are heard pleading with their male counterparts to stop hurting him.

It was initially thought that the school is in Kenya, but it was later established to be in Tanzania.

Commenting on the recording, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale said,

“It’s brutal, inhuman and unacceptable. As a parent am shocked.”

The Judiciary is Disposing These Vehicles at Only Sh25,000 (PHOTOS)

If there’s anything Kenyans love nearly as much as free things, it is cheap things.

That explains why every person and their mother yesterday received a forwarded Whatsapp message listing a number of government vehicles being disposed for the cheap.

The public auction notice has a catalog of 40 GK cars, more than half of which are Mercedez Benz.

The most expensive of the cars is a Land Rover 110 priced at 455,000, with the cheapest being a Peugeot 406 priced at only Sh25,000.

Read: Abandoned Fuel Guzzlers – Judiciary Wastes Millions By Dumping Old Mercedes (PHOTOS)

The cars are owned by the Judiciary and have been wasting at the Judiciary storage yard near Milimani Law Courts.

Some of them were confiscated from senior judges who were fired after the Judges and Magistrates Vetting Board found them unfit to continue serving, while others were surrendered after the government banned fuel guzzlers.

Others were grounded due to lack of funds for repairs.

As much as it may be tempting to buy a Mercedes for Sh200,000, you should be advised that whatever you’ll be buying will most likely end up as scrap metal. Here are some photos.

A Never Seen Before VIDEO of Obama and Michelle’s Visit To Kenya in 1990 has Surfaced

obamaA never seen before mini-documentary of US President Barack Obama and his then fiancée Michelle’s visit to Kenya in 1990 has surfaced on YouTube.

The video was filmed and narrated by his half sister Auma Obama.

The video shows Obama’s enthusiasm in meeting his Kenyan family and introducing his soon to be wife to them.

He is seen chatting happily with his siblings and grandmother.

After visiting his family, the future President of the United States joins Auma on a tour of the country, including going on a safari.

We even get a chance to see the blue Volkswagen Beetle Obama has been talking about.

Barack gives some strong opinions about race, expressing his disappointment in how black Kenyans regard whites.

“I’m deeply saddened by a sense that whites are still superior in this country, in some sense, that if you sit at a restaurant, they’re served before a Kenyan is served. If you go through customs, a white person is going to have an easier time going through customs.” he says.

Crowdsourcing site wesearchr.com paid $10,000 to obtain the footage, but it is unclear from whom.

POLL: Do You Prefer Amina Mohamed Remains as Foreign Affairs CS or Joins AU

mohamedKenyans have been having this discussion online since President Uhuru nominated Amb. Amina Mohamed for the position of Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).

The position is currently held by Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma of South Africa, but her term is coming to an end.

The nomination process was opened afresh after the AU Heads of state Summit in Kigali in July failed to elect the successor of Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma. There were 3 contenders for the position, but none of them obtained the required two-thirds majority after seven rounds of voting.

Ms Mohamed will battle it out with former Ugandan vice president Specioza Wandira Kazibwe, Equatorial Guinea Foreign Minister Agapito Mba Mokuy and his Botswanian counterpart Pelonomi Venson Moitoi.

Amina Mohamed has been rated by many as the best performing cabinet secretary in Kenya. The government took over while the President and Deputy President had ongoing cases at the ICC, and there was talk that Kenya would be sidelined by the international community.

However, what we’ve seen in the past 4 years is unprecedented visits by top world leaders, and Nairobi hosting major global events.

Some people believe that Amb. Amina’s skills are better utilized at home than at the AU, whose job no one seems to really understand.

Instead of letting her skills get wasted in Ethiopia as she tries to reason with old men who are still clinging on to power, people think she should remain as Kenya’s foreign affairs cs and continue doing tangible work. Who knows, maybe in a few years the UN top position may open up.

What do you think?
