The much-hyped launch of OPPO F3 finally took place yesterday at a colorful event held in Nairobi.
This is OPPO’s latest smartphone and it will retail at Ksh. 33,000.
OPPO F3’s signature feature is the dual selfie cameras. The secondary camera is a 16MP shooter plus an 8MP snapper that comes with a wide-angle lens for wide-angle selfies.
OPPO Kenya hopes that this feature will capture the attention of an audience that continues to demand great yet affordable handsets.
The demand for camera-focused handsets continues to rise and that may explain why smartphone manufacturers are investing in this feature. It is, thus, great that OPPO did the same with F3.

F3 joins the bandwagon of other camera focused mid-range devices from a Chinese manufacturer. The others include Tecno Camon CX, Huawei GR5 2017, and Infinix S2 Pro brands.
Huawei, for instance, launched GR5 2017 earlier this year. This is one of the few mid-tier devices that comes with a dual-camera setup at the back.
The handset retails at Ksh. 25,000 while the price tag for Camon CX is Ksh. 17,399.
The price tag for OPPO F3 is a bit high though. Ksh. 33,000 for a mid-range handset especially coming from the OPPO brand is not quite acceptable Not to shade OPPO but it is still a mid-tier company yet to reach the status of companies such as Samsung and Apple.
The OPPO F3 specifications are okay for a mid-range handset. The display, processing power, battery, and camera are okay and we cannot complain much.
A definite upgrade from the recent entrant OPPO A57.
The Chinese manufacturer promises that the experience you get from F3 cannot be gotten elsewhere. The specs are okay; hence, their statement can be said to hold some water.
We will give the price tag a pass. For now.
There is a chance that the handset will receive an OS update. OPPO Africa brand director Andy Shi suggested that an update should be on your way soon. How soon is soon? That we cannot confirm.
The next handset should be OPPO F3 Plus but it is yet to make its way into the Kenyan market.
The handset has gone on sale in India and China and we can only hope that it should be making its way here soon.
It’s worth the wait though because the specifications are much better than those of F3.
Currently, OPPO F3 is ready for pre-order but will be available in stores as of May 25th, 2017. This can be done from various retail stores across the country. So, go get yours if the specs have impressed.
