The Cabinet on Thursday directed that the East African Community anthem will henceforth be sang alongside the national anthem in schools.
The EAC flag (pictured above) will also be hoisted in all government offices and public institutions with immediate effect.
Titled Wimbo wa Jumuiya Afrika Mashariki, the EAC anthem is a 3 stanza composition in Kiswahili. The directive is meant to promote integration in the region.
Kenya is the first country in East Africa to make this decision.
