Nation Media Group has today made their plans to fire some of their employees public.

According to a statement issued by the leading Media House, Nation FM, and QFM will be shut down as they also consolidate their two TV stations into one multi-lingual television station.

The Nation Media Group (NMG) has rationalized its broadcasting division, scaling down its traditional radio business in Kenya, Nation FM and QFM and Rwanda’s KFM.

QTV will also be merged with NTV to create a strong multi-lingual TV station under NMG’s flagship brand NTV.

“We will keep a live signal and maintain an online presence in line with our digital strategy. The rationalisation steps are effective as of 30th June 2016,” NMG group CEO Joe Muganda told staff Thursday morning.

     He went on:
Regrettably this will result in a reduction of our workforce through job redundancies. We do recognise that today’s announcement will be difficult for the affected employees and their families. This exercise will be carried out with due respect to our employees and within the Kenyan laws. We will strive to provide all the necessary support to help them manage through this transition.”

The Group reassured its consumers that of its commitment towards delivering value to its audiences in line with their expectations.
