24-year-old Man Arrested for Threatening to Join AlShabaab at KDF Recruitment
A 24-year-old man was on Friday arrested for threatening to join terror group Al Shabaab if he won’t qualify to join the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) after recruitment process ends in Erekenyo, Nyamira County.
Alex Maraga Nyambane, who comes from Nyamusi, was apprehended at the recruitment venue by one of the officers who was conducting the exercise.
Head of KDF recruitment exercise in Erekenyo Col. Victor Mburu confirmed the incident and said it was unfortunate to learn that such a young man can have such ambitions.
The Kenya Defence Forces Recruitment has been marred with controversy with recent claims of corruption being seen in the counties.
Last week an elderly man was arrested while trying to bribe a KDF officer for his son to be recruited in the forces
