Activist Boniface Mwangi In trouble over alleged defaming Tweet on DP Ruto
Deputy President William Ruto has threatened to sue activist Boniface Mwangi for a ‘tweet’ that linked him to the death of Nairobi businessman Jacob Juma.
The Deputy President, through his lawyers, Kilukumi & Co. Advocates are alternatively demanding a suitable retraction, correction, and apology from activist Boniface Mwangi.
Ruto’s lawyers have demanded an apology from activist Boniface Mwangi over an alleged libelous tweet linking the DP to the death of businessman Jacob Juma, who was assassinated in May 2016.
Boniface Mwangi posted a controversial tweet on September 28 insinuating the DP’s involvement in the murder of Juma.
“If Mr. Mwangi fails to retract his statement, he could face litigation, says DP Ruto’s legal rep.
In a tweet Boniface Tweeted:
“I hope Deputy President has no plans of killing me the way he killed his old friend, Jacob Juma a fellow thief who became a whistle blower.”
Boniface Mwangi posted a controversial tweet on September 28 insinuating the DP’s involvement in the murder of Juma.
“The words in their ordinary and plain meaning are defamatory and they have severely injured our client’s reputation. The defamatory words attracted 556 retweets and 476 likes as of today 9:30am after the tweet was posted as well as numerous comments from different people who now view our client as a murderer and a thief” Said Mr Kilukumi.
Mwangi became popular when in 2013 led youth and activists in a shocking protest – involving blood and pigs – outside Parliament building as MPs made a move to increase their salaries.
