William ole Ntimama is Dead
The veteran politician and de-facto leader of the Maasai passed away at his Melili home at 10:30pm, Thursday. He was 86 years old.
According to family sources, Ntimama was not in pain and was in a jovial mood the whole day.
“Ntimama was scheduled to conduct a fundraising in aid of women in Olchorro area,” the source told the Star.
“He had invited former senate aspirant Andrew ole Sunkuli to assist him in the harambee and that why he decided to spend his day in his Melili home.”
Ntimama had however been receiving treatment for an illness at his home for the past one month according to Narok County Police Commander Jillo Galgalo.
He served for 15 years as Chairman of Narok County Council, and then 25 years as MP and minister. He made his entry into national politics in 1988 when he ousted the then powerful minister in the Office of the President Justus Kantet ole Tipis.
Ntimama joined Narc in 2002 and defended his seat successfully. He lost his parliamentary seat in 2013.
Ntimama’s body has been taken to Lee Funeral Home.
