Gionee S10 was recently announced and one thing we can conclude is that the camera has become a unique selling point for smartphones.
S10’s main feature has to be the four cameras-two in the rear and two at the front and that’s enough reason to get our attention.
The handset was launched at an event in China and it is a successor to Gionee S9 launched last year.
Gionee is a Chinese manufacturer that entered the Kenyan market not long ago and while it is not yet a household name, it has introduced us to above average standards.
I would go as far as to say that some of the company’s smartphones’ features are beyond industry standards.
Like the M6S that had a massive 6,020mAh battery and 5,000mAh for Gionee M6.
Back to Gionee S10, the handset comes with 16MP +8MP rear camera setup and an insane 20MP + 8MP front facing cameras.
The company says that one of the back cameras comes with a f/1.8 aperture which means that you can capture decent photos in low lighting conditions.
The dual rear cameras have wide angle lens and can catch 3D effects.
Gionee S10’s other specifications are also quite impressive. This is a handset I would definitely love to lay hands on.
It comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a 1920×1080 pixels resolution and a 2.5D curved glass. This is pretty good.
The smartphone is powered by a 2.5GHz MediaTek Helio processor and an impressive 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
That enough space to multitask and store your videos, files, and whatever it is that you want.
S10 comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box but it also runs on Amigo OS on top of Nougat.
With regard to the battery capacity, we are looking at 3,450mAh units.
The handset also comes with a fingerprint scanner.

S10 was announced alongside two other handsets namely Gionee S10B and Gionee S10C.
S10B comes with a dual back camera, 13MP +5MP setup, and a 16MP front-facing camera.
It has a 5.5-inch display; 4GB RAM, Android 7.0 Nougat, and uses Helio P10 chipset. The handset is powered by a 3,700mAh battery.
S10C, on the other hand, comes with average specifications. It is the entry level handset of the three.
It comes with a 13Mp rear camera and 16MP front-facing camera, 4GB RAM, Android 7.0 Nougat, and 3,100mAh battery on board.
Of the three handsets, S10 is the higher-end. In terms of price, S10 is higher priced while SC10 is the most affordable of the three.
Gionee S10 looks good on paper but does it have what it takes to beat the competition?
The premium look and impressive specs make it attractive but we will just have to wait and see the reception.
The handset is set to hit the Chinese market on the 9th on June and thereafter other markets from other parts of the world.
