RAW VIDEO: The Moment The Police Chopper Stalled in the Air and Came Crashing Down
Three police officers and a civilian were seriously injured yesterday when the police chopper they were in crashed at NYS College, Mathare North.
Aboard were Inspector Martin Ndungu, Inspector Dennis Otom Oduk, Constable Michael Kariuki Mutwota and a foreigner.
The foreigner was reportedly an engineer from AgustaWestlands, the helicopter manufacturer that sold and maintained the chopper.
The helicopter was bought at a cost of Sh683 million and delivered to the National Police Service in April this year.
The 15 seater chopper was brand new. Two other police choppers refurbished in Czech Republic were delivered at around the same time.
Confirming the incident, Nairobi county police commander Japheth Koome said:
“The aircraft was on normal surveillance when it developed problems. We cannot tell the cause of the accident. The pilot had put all efforts to land in the field where there are no people. No other casualties besides the four.”
A video has now surfaced showing the exact moment the helicopter came down. The cell phone footage shows the chopper hovering for a while before it comes crashing down.
