If you fall into the category of people who perceive the Tecno brand in a bad light, Tecno Phantom 8 specs will change your mind, and possibly blow it. Tecno has definitely pulled up its socks over time and this can be evidenced by the software and hardware upgrades in its various devices.

Tecno has managed to sneak into our budget as Kenyans and the entire African mobile phone market.

On the 22nd October 2017, something awesome happened in Dubai: Tecno Phantom 8 was launched. I guess special things happen in Dubai since this was the same venue chosen for the launch of Phantom 6 and Phantom 6 Plus.

In case you are a great Tecno fun, you may have noticed that the company has deliberately skipped Phantom 7. This could be a strategy to keep pace with other giant brands such as Samsung and Apple as they have already launched Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note 8 as well as iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. This is just a wild guess so don’t run to the bus with it.

With two months before 2017 ends, it seems that Tecno Phantom 8 is the company’s flagship for the year 2017. If this is the case, Tecno will have made a point – that it deserves a spot in the big boys’ table already.

Phantom 8 looks quite good on paper. With a 6GB RAM paired with MediaTek Helio P25, you are assured that demanding apps will run just fine.

Phantom 6 Plus was great but it seems that it will be dethroned and rightly so. To give you an idea of exactly why this is the case, take a look at the gadgets key specifications.

    Tecno Phantom 8 key specifications:

    • 5.7 inches full HD display, 1080 * 1920 pixel resolution
    • 5D Front panel
    • Android 7.0 Nougat with HiOS V3.0
    • Global 4G LTE
    • Glossy Glass finish
    • 6GB RAM
    • 64GB storage
    • Up to 2000GB Storage via MicroSD card
    • 13MP + 12MP dual rear cameras
    • 20MP front camera
    • MediaTek Helio P25 Octa-core 2.6GHz Processor
    • 3500 mAh battery, Type-C port for charging
    • Colors: 3 – Galaxy blue, Phantom black, Champaign gold

    Tech Phantom 8 Price:

The handset is expected to cost about Ksh. 40,000 once it launches in Kenya. However, this is subject to change since Tecno has not made an official communication regarding the same. If the price is 40K, this is good news since it is fair for a handset rocking such awesome specifications.

From the specs, it is clear that Tecno Phantom 8 has put much emphasis on the camera. The 13MP + 12MP dual rear cameras 20MP front camera come with a promise of a great camera experience. Of course, we can only sing its praises if or when we get a new unit since what is on paper does not always translate in real life.

The camera prowess makes us give the recently launched Camon C9 Plus a side eye but then again, we appreciate that just like everything else today, we have smartphone lanes!

Finally, Tecno Phantom 8 brings good things to the table. While Samsung and Apple have been making the most noise for the past few weeks, the arrival of this device to store shelves will definitely change the tune. Talking of arrival, let’s hope that happens soon.
